BACKGROUND
The research focuses on the exercise routines of young adults, a demographic known for unique lifestyle constraints such as irregular schedules and academic/work pressures. This group often struggles to maintain regular physical activity, which is essential for their physical, emotional, and mental health. The study aims to uncover the underlying reasons why young adults struggle with establishing and maintaining an exercise routine.
CHALLENGES & GOALS
The main challenge addressed by the study is the difficulty university students face in developing and adhering to an exercise routine amidst their hectic and variable schedules. The goal of the research was to identify specific barriers and strategies employed by students in managing their exercise routines. Understanding these elements can help in devising better support systems and interventions to encourage regular physical activity among this population.
METHODOLOGY
The research methodology comprised two primary studies: semi-structured interviews and a diary study.
semi-structured interview
The interviews were designed to gather rich, contextual insights into users' exercise habits, motivations, and barriers.
diary study
The diary study complemented this by capturing real-time, detailed data about the students' daily exercise behaviors and the challenges they face.
RESULTS
The findings revealed the three most significant barriers to regular exercise.

NEXT STEPS
Following the presentation of these designs, my next steps will be to conduct usability testing to gather feedback and insights from potential users. This will help me identify any areas of the design that may need refinement to enhance the user experience. Testing will involve a diverse group of participants to ensure the app meets the varied needs of its target audience. After iterating based on the feedback collected, I will move towards developing the application, focusing on ensuring that the interface is intuitive and the functionalities align well with user expectations. Additionally, continuous testing and development phases will be crucial to evolve MoodMove into a robust tool that effectively supports users in maintaining regular exercise habits tailored to their daily life conditions.
